Microsoft Surface Pro 5/2018 Release

Tech industry journalists are once again buzzing with talk in anticipation of the possible launch of a new offering in Microsoft’s flagship Surface Pro range. A quick Google search today reveals some UK retailers also anticipating the launch, with the likes of Curry’s already running Adwords for Microsoft Surface Pro 5.

Last year Microsoft passed on the opportunity to launch a Surface Pro 5, opting instead for an upgraded version of the Surface Pro 4 launched in December 2017 which took the model name Surface Pro (2017).

With the evermore likely launch of a brand new model soon, speculation is rife in terms of the possible specification of a Surface Pro 5. One such rumour is that it could ship with the Surface Dial 2 included in the box which currently sells in the UK for £90.00 GBP. Other anticipated features include a 4K (3840 x 2560 pixels) display, the Intel Cannon Lake processor, a rechargeable stylus and perhaps a keyboard cover.

What Microsoft do decide to include, and indeed if it will even take the name Surface Pro 5 we will of course only know for sure once the next model has actually been launched. What we do know for sure is that if it does take the name Surface Pro 5 then that will be the sign that it includes some big new features. Microsoft Surface head Panos Panay said in 2017 that the Surface Pro 5 would exist just as soon as there were more radical changes from the Microsoft hardware design lab.
